Specsavers will be donating cased memorabilia including two tennis balls, sunglasses and a lens cloth signed by tennis legends Lleyton Hewitt, Pat Rafter, Julia Goerges, Sloan Stephen, Jim Courier, Mats Wilander, Mansour Bahrami, Fernando Verdasco and Vincent Millot. The gift is to celebrate the Specsavers Community Program donation and Specsavers' partnership with the 2014 Australian Open as the tournament's Official Eyecare Partner.
The Specsavers Community Program, which raises funds for selected local charities around the country and The Fred Hollows Foundation, Specsavers' national charity partner, provides customers with a token for each pair of glasses purchased at Specsavers. Customers can then use the token to select which charity they would like to support and a subsequent donation is made by the store.
Specsavers Stawell optometrist, Michael Peter, said the Stawell team are enjoying giving back to the community that supports them through their Community Program.
"We are thrilled to give Specsavers customers the opportunity to help us give back through our Specsavers Community Program. The 25 Victorian stores supporting The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation are delighted to make the first round of donations to the Foundation.
"We hope these donations offer some assistance to such an important cause," Michael said.
"If this is what we can raise just three months into the Specsavers Community Program, we can't wait to see what results we will have at six months!"
The Royal Children's Hospital Foundation CEO, Sue Hunt, said they are thrilled at the amount Specsavers stores have raised in the three months that the Specsavers Community Program has been running.
"We want to say a huge thank you to everyone involved for this wonderful donation," Ms Hunt said.
