With temperatures predicted to be 40 degrees in Stawell on Saturday and the day declared a day of total fire ban, the executive had no choice but to abandon play in all three grades.
The decision was made as per the heat policy at 10am on Saturday morning.
The top temperature in Stawell on Saturday reached 40.2 degrees.
This is the second successive week the Association's heat policy has been invoked and it meant there was no play at all on either day of the A and B grade scheduled two day fixtures or the two C grade one day fixtures.
It has not been an ideal resumption of play for A and B grade since the Christmas/New Year break.
The one day fixture on January 11 did go ahead, but the opening day's play of the next round, January 18, was abandoned because of bushfires in the region. The second day of this match then went ahead on January 25 as a one day fixture.
With round 10 totally abandoned and play going ahead on just one of the past four weeks, teams now have just one round remaining to complete the home and away season, prior to finals commencing on March 1.
Players will be anxious for play to go ahead this Saturday.
It could be the GCA executive is forced to include 'make up' days in the draw for next season particularly in A and B grades to compensate for the loss of scheduled matches as has happened this season.
