GCA - Christmas has come and gone and the Grampians Cricket Association is back in action after the break with the quarter finals of the one day competition.

Both A and B grade quarter finals will be played tomorrow and the semi finals on Sunday, so it's a busy weekend for cricketers.
The C grade don't resume until February 1. The finals for the Maddocks and Martin Shields will be on February 16.
The next competition for the GCA senior teams will be the Bendigo Country Week commencing on Monday, January 20. Grampians will compete in Division (3) this year with the draw being:
Day 1 vs Redcliffs CA at Huntly, Day 2 vs Bendigo District CA at White Hills, Day 3 vs Northern United CA at Wade St, Day 4 vs Grassmere at Nth Bendigo, and the final being played at Harry Trott Oval.
In the meantime the Central Highlands Junior Country week is being staged this week, for U/15 and U/13 boys. The girl's competition will be held in February.
At the time of writing the GCA had met with mixed success, winning both games on Monday, losing both games on Tuesday and a rest day on Wednesday.
On Monday Grampians U/15s dismissed Gisborne White for 87 with Tom Mills (2/3) and Adam Haslett (2/8) the best of the bowlers, then made 5/153 with Tom Mills completing a handy double with 41 runs.
Tuesday saw the Central Highlands development squad make 142 after being sent in to bat with the GCA's best bowlers being Sam Pilgrim (2/17) and Grady Slocome (2/21).
The GCA then collapsed to be all out for 96 with only opener Adam Haslett (27) getting into double figures. Yesterday Grampians were to play Ballarat Gold to determine their finishing ranking.
The U/13s chased down Gisborne White's 7/153, by scoring 8/172 after their 40 overs. Best of the Grampians bowlers was Cooper Heard with 2/10 while the main run scorers were Harry Armstrong 41 ret, Aaron Byron 32 and Tom Robinson 30 no.
Game two saw the Grampians just miss out scoring 9/149 in reply to CHR Squad's 9/156. Krishna Shandak (2/17) and Ned Parsons (2/30) took the bowling honours while Ned Bohner (57no) and Tom Robinson (29) were GCA's best batsmen.
It was good to see Greg Goldsmith out on the field umpiring the juniors at Alexandra Oval.
'Goldy' was one of the best GCA umpires until retiring from senior umpiring last season. He told me he really enjoys umpiring the kids. No nonsense with them he told me.
