The Wildcats went in confident of a good showing in this clash. With the inclusion of Travis Peatt and Blake Dunstan to the line up, Stawell's bench was the deepest it had been all season.
Having depth on the bench allowed the Wildcats to rotate the starters more and get some rest for Jarred Ohayon and Joel Freeland.
The match was close early with both teams missing early shots, but Stawell led at quarter time by two points.
Stawell dominated the second term. The Trio of Ohayon, Dunstan, and Toby Smith did most of the damage.
Stawell controlled the play, out rebounded the Tornadoes, but Terang managed to stay in the contest at half time, with the scoreline at 36-26.
The Wildcats lead should have been more but poor shooting cost them.
The third quarter was the opposite with Terang taking control.
Terang had levelled the scores at 51 all and poor shooting again cost Stawell.
The final quarter was a real battle.
Neither team gave an inch, but with the Wildcats leading by five with just two minutes to go, the home crowd was sensing a victory.
Terang came again, scoring the next three baskets to take the lead with just seconds remaining.
With Jarred Ohayon's final shot falling short, Terang had the win.
Top scorers for Stawell were Ohayon 16, Dunstan 15, Smith and Freeland nine points each.
Terang were led by Justin Wallace with 24 points.
While disappointed with the result, Stawell showed they have made massive steps forward so far this season.
