With the match transferred to the hard wicket at Elmhurst, Aradale went into the clash without their key pace bowler John Butler.
All indications were for a big Combine first innings score, but in the end Aradale would have been pleased with their effort to dismiss the Combine for a score of 176 runs.
It did not look good early for Aradale when Swifts Great Western openers Sam Cocks and James Devery controlled play. They took the score to 74 before Cocks (52) was dismissed.
The big wicket came when Tyler Cronin trapped Combine captain Travis Nicholson in front after he added to just five runs to the score and the Combine were 2/82.
James Devery (33) battled on and after he was bowled by Matt Stasse, Aradale were right in the game.
Jacob Seeary (28) and Gary Ranton (18) did add runs in the middle order, but wickets fell at a steady rate before the Combine innings finished at 176 runs.
Tyler Cronin was the best of the Aradale bowlers with his 3/36 from 19.5 overs, while Matt Baldock, Geordie Wood and Matt Stasse chipped in with two wickets each.
With 15 overs until the end of play Aradale were looking for a steady start from openers Travis Horvatek and Mitchell Wood.
It was all going to plan until just before the end of play when Horvatek (11) was run out and Aradale finished the day at 1/17, with the run chase to continue this Saturday.
Tatyoon has given Buangor a 200 plus run chase to take the first innings points.
After slumping to 2/42, Tatyoon recovered and Matt Moore (60) and Andrew Ward (29) took the score to 5/120 when Ward was dismissed.
Darren Beer (34) and Tim McDougall (26) then took over and the Tatyoon total reached 220 runs when the final wicket, that of Darren Beer fell.
Buangor opening bowler Harry Ganley stuck to his task and from his 15 overs he finished with 5/49, while Nathan Hargreaves picked up two wickets.
The reply from Buangor didn't start well when opener Tyson Carr was dismissed without scoring, but Shaun Allen (20) and Chris Jerram took the score to 1/26 at the close of play.
A last wicket stand of 28 runs, has given Pomonal every chance of taking first innings points against Youth Club.
The Tigers were in big trouble at 9/74, but Lee Oliver (19) and Al McKay (13no) defied the Youth Club bowlers led by Steve LeGassick (4/17) and took the score to 102.
To add to this revival the Pomonal bowlers stepped out and had the Youth Club batsmen in trouble from the outset of their innings.
Only Matt Delzotto (20no) stood firm as Youth Club were on shaky ground at 3/35 at the close of play, with a lot of work to do.
There was a run feast in B grade with Halls Gap declaring its innings closed at 8/315 in the clash against Pomonal, with Lesley Pyke (135) and Ned Leithhead (106) dominating the day's play.
