Zoo owner Greg Culell drove the three week old chicks from Halls Gap to the National Zoo and Aquarium in Canberra on Monday.
The chicks hatched around October 1. Just prior to them hatching, Greg and Yvonne Culell alerted the zoo community as to their pending arrival and expressions of interest were sought. The National Zoo and Aquarium was first to show their hand.
"It was pretty much first in, first served," Yvonne said.
"We were able to find a home for the chicks very quickly which was good.
"Greg was on his way to Sydney to pick up some new animals anyway, so it all tied in well."
The trip will result in the addition of Gila Monsters, a new alligator and a Burmese python at the Halls Gap Zoo.
The Gila Monsters were collected from Taronga Zoo and the other animals from the Australian Reptile Park at Gosford. Yvonne said they would be welcomed additions to the Halls Gap Zoo.
"It gives us a few more animals to show off to the public."
