After another winter of COVID restrictions and challenges, the Stawell Golf Club is ready to tee off their 2021 summer season.

Despite the closure of the course several times over the past 18 months, Stawell Golf Club captain David Hunter said the club was in a strong position.
"We have continued on from last year," he said.
"COVID was lucky for us because it got people out paying golf because it was one of the few sports people could play.
"We have picked up footballers and we have got some cricketers who are playing golf now too.

"Our numbers have grown and I am just happy to be back into it and getting to be back to normal has been good too."
As part of their return to 'normal' the Stawell Golf Club gas returned to competition golf, with their 2021 Annual Tournament scheduled for November 12-16.
2021 Stawell Golf Club Annual Tournament schedule:
- Friday November 12: 4BBB Stableford, Men's and Women's 10:30am for an 11am shot gun start, $40 per team
- Saturday November 13: 27 hole stroke Men's 9am for 9:30am shotgun start $30 per person BBQ lunch and 18 hole stroke Men's and Women's 11am for a 11:30am shotgun start $20 per person
- Sunday November 14 Pinebrose mixed and Men's 10:30am for a 11am shotgun start $40 per tea
- Tuesday November 16 Two person Ambrose Men's, mixed and Women's rolling start from 9am $40 per team.
- All entries to be made via Bookatee.
Hunter said he was looking forward to seeing plenty of faces on the course as the summer season ramps up.
"It is fantastic to have the competition golf back. We were playing social golf on the Saturday and it is just not quite the same," he said.
"We have been having really good numbers with 60-70 people here for social golf on a Saturday."

He also said the club was preparing a busy schedule for before and after Christmas with the Jarrod Lyle Cup Day, Christmas Golf Day, the Stawell Golf Club Championships and a Volkswagon Scramble all coming throughout the season.
The 2021-22 season is Hunter's first in the captain's role after he stepped up from his position on the match committee.
Hunter also thanked the Club's volunteers for their work in preparing the course for the 2021 season and said new players were welcome at the club.
"The volunteers have been doing an amazing job," he said.
"Without them we wouldn't have a golf course and they put in a lot of ours particularly, Ian Sibson who is out here all the time.
"Thanks to a Northern Grampians Shire Council grant we were able to purchase hire clubs.
"We have a space where people can book a cart on the website, and players can book the hire clubs the same way.
"We would love to see more new golfers and some new women players as well."
