With the league making the decision to move from the regular eight team finals series, back to six teams, Navarre faces an uphill battle to fight their way into September action.
After a slow start, the Grasshoppers were faced with an 18-point quarter-time deficit as the efficient hawks jumped out hard.
It was a different Navarre outfit though after the first break, a five goal to zero second quarter turning the game on its head.
As the game leveled out in the second half, Navarre never relinquished control, coming away with an important 20-point victory.

Heading now into their final 2 games of the year against the 2 bottom placed sides, Navarre will be watching the results of this week's Natte Bealiba v Newstead game closely, whilst also looking for a serious percentage boost to help their chances.
A Newstead win will all but deliver Navarre a finals berth; while a Natte Bealiba win will see them sweating on percentages.
Navarre has two other football sides with an eye on September action.
The Under-11's, while currently sitting seventh, are all but assured of a finals berth as they also have a favourable draw to close out the home and away rounds.
They enjoyed a day out last week against the young Hawks as they coasted to a 116-point win. In an even team performance with 10 individual goals kickers, Charlie Dunn, William Hope and Ryder Sullivan all booted three goals, while Morgan Greenaway and Michael Ador-Kongor also saw plenty on the football.
OTHER NEWS:
The under-14's meanwhile are well entrenched in third place and enjoyed a strong 37-point win last week against the fourth placed Hawks.
Holding Talbot to a single point for the match, the Grasshoppers had an even spread of five single goalkickers.
Charlie Blake, Will Moloney, Jacob Dunn and Jacob Martin named the better players in strong team performance.
In the netball Navarre also had one of their most successful days of the season with collections of wins and a draw against Talbot.
The A Grade nailed a big win 63 to 29, while the B Grade did enough for a 39 to 30 win.
In the C Grade Navarre defeated Talbot 40-14 while the 17-under played out a Navarre 20 all draw.
Navarre head to Dunolly on Saturday, where all grades will be looking to carry momentum towards the end of the season.
