With the mercury set to soar beyond 38 degrees Celsius residents are urged to be mindful of extreme weather conditions.
Country Fire Authority District 16 operations manager Neville Collins said there would be a very high fire danger throughout the whole day.
“If any fires start they will have a greater possibility of becoming large,” he said.
“We ask residents to be mindful of these conditions and we recommend residents refrain from any mowing or slashing activity and leave that for a cooler day.
“In the past this has sparked many fires, so we strongly urge you avoid this.”
The Wimmera and Mallee districts will be the only regions in Victoria with a severe fire danger rating and total fire ban declared.
Country Fire Authority has advised no fires be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air from 12:01am on Wednesday until 11:59pm that same day.
