The 202-centimetre ruckman was taken in the fourth round with pick 69 in Friday night’s AFL national draft.
The 19-year-old was overlooked in the 2016 draft but continued to work hard, earning selection for Victoria Country and making an influence with the Rebels in 2017.
He was the only Rebels player to get drafted.
He will make his way west and look to learn from veteran ruckman Aaron Sandliands as he comes towards the end of his career.
The Mininera product said he and is family was ecstatic when he was selected.
“When my name was called out it was a massive wave of relief and excitement and lots of other emotions, then I started getting messages from some members of the Dockers’ leadership group which was just surreal,” he said.
The former SMW Rovers had little time to celebrate, flying over to Perth to start his first pre-season on Monday.
