A grass fire burnt just under 25 hectares of land at a property off Bulgana Road at Concongella about 1pm on Friday.
District 16 Country Fire Authority duty officer Neville Collins said the fire was sparked from slashing.
“The land owner tried to extinguish the blaze, but it got away and one hectare was already up when brigades arrived,” he said.
The Fire Danger period is now in force in the Wimmera as of Monday – no burn-offs are allowed, unless a permit is granted from council.
