Food Standards Australia and the NSW Food Authority issued a food recall alert for the fried potato crisps on Thursday.

"Snack Brands Australia has recalled Kettle Sea Salt and Kettle Rosemary and Sea Salt from Coles and Woolworths stores in NSW and Victoria due to the potential presence of foreign matter (white rubber pieces)," a statement said.

The food authority watchdogs urged people not to consume Kettle Sea Salt, 175g and 300g, packets or the Kettle Rosemary and Sea Salt, 175g packets, with the best before date of November 11, 2017.

"Products can be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund," the statement read.

"If you are concerned about your health you should seek medical advice."
