TKO Racing owners Terry and Karina O’Sullivan have enjoyed a successful start to the new racing season, recording back-to-back wins at Swan Hill on Monday.

Jack Hill rode Regina Del Nilo in just the filly’s third race to win the 1200m The Bottle O 3-year-old maiden plate.

Stawell horse trainer Terry O’Sullivan said she has taken time to mature.

“Karina bought her in Tasmania and she (Regina Del Nilo) really looks like a nice filly,” he said.

“She will probably have one more run then return to the paddock. After some time she might measure up to metro.”

Hill backed the win up just half an hour later to win the 1200m Hygain maiden plate on Enyo, another TKO Racing horse.

It was the first start for the four-year-old mare.

“He has shown a lot of ability and promise,” Mr O’Sullivan said.

“He has a bright future ahead of him.”

Happy As Hell ran third with Hill on board to record the third placing from as many races for the O’Sullivan’s, making it a near perfect day out.

Mr O’Sullivan said the wins were a nice way to start the new racing season.

“We had a good day at Swan Hill. We had three second places last week so it was nice to grab a couple of wins,” he said.

“It is a big plus to start the new season well.”

TKO Racing has enjoyed recent success off the track as well, with St Arnaud and Ararat cup winning horse Golden Oldies selected as one of three finalists for the CrownBet Country Racing Victoria Horse of the Year for the 2016/17 season.

The six-year-old gelding made its way off the shortlist and into the group of finalists after clubs from across Victoria voted on which horses they believed had the best season.

Darren Weir’s High Church and Austy Coffey’s Vianden are the other finalists.

“We are pretty pleased with the nomination for him (Golden Oldies),” Mr O’Sullivan said.

“He is recovering from an injury at the moment, so unfortunately he looks like he won’t be able to defend his titles.”

The 2016/17 CrownBet Country Racing Victoria Awards will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on Saturday, August 26.

The O’Sullivan’s have a busy schedule ahead of them, including two horses racing at Flemington on Saturday.
