Saints coach Luke Fisher said it is a massive game for his side.
“We need to peg one back because we probably thought we would have been more competitive to start the season,” he said.
The Saints defenders will once again need to punch above their height and weight divisions. Key Stawell forwards David Andrivon and Travis Graham will stretch the side’s defence.
“Alistair Byrne will take Andrivon but we aren’t as sure about Graham,” Fisher said. “Jordan Johns has been playing back the past couple of weeks and might get first crack at him, but he will be giving away some height and experience. We need to keep relying on team defence to help those guys out, and that comes from the midfield group as well.”
Stawell coach Tom Eckel labelled the game a must win.
“We have to win it to keep our season on track,” he said. “It was a disappointing game last round against Warrack.”
His side will work hard to stop the hard-running Saints.
“They will be quick, so we need to try and negate that,” Eckel said. “If we can be solid down back and use the ball well that will help a lot”
Jackson Dark will again be crucial for the away team. “He is killing it, and has definitely been our best player this year,” Eckel said. “He is full of confidence at the moment, we could put him anywhere and he would perform”
