Both the Redbacks and Grasshoppers remain undefeated after the first four rounds of the season.
Navarre coach Jayden Fowkes said he expects a tough game.
“They're definitely just as strong if not stronger than last year,” he said.
The sides last played each other in the 2016 MCDFNL grand final, where Navarre were able to secure their fourth consecutive premiership to beat Carisbrook by 41-points.
Fowkes said Carisbrook are a “quality side”.
“This will be a benchmark game for us,” he said.
“We will be able to see how we stack up.”
Fowkes said he is concerned about the form of Carisbrook forward Luke Treacy.
Treacy has amassed 33 goals in just four games so far this season.
“We are going to have to try a few different things to nullify him (Treacy),” Fowkes said.
“He has been on fire so it is going to be tough to shut him down.”
The game is set to be the blockbuster match of the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League’s Indigenous Round.
MCDFNL operations manager Shane Anwyl said it is a great occasion for the league.
“We are tying in with the AFL’s celebration across the whole of AFL Goldfields,” he said.
“It is important to recognise the impact that indigenous people have had on the region over so many years.
“It is a great opportunity to celebrate indigenous culture.
AFL Goldfields have put together a number of initiatives across its leagues including the painting of the indigenous flag in centre circles, special Indigenous Round footballs and clubs given indigenous flags to fly at their grounds.
A special Indigenous Round boomerang trophy has been donated by AFL Goldfields for each competing side to play for this weekend.
“We are excited to build on what we have done in the past,” Anwyl said.
Fowkes said it is great to play in the round.
“It is a great thing for footy to show that respect to indigenous people,” he said.
“It was great last year and I am sure it will be again this year.”
Navarre’s Danny Grellet is in doubt for the game after suffering a knock to the head in last weekends win over Lexton.
Billy Parry looks set to return to the senior side, after his best on ground performance in the reserves coming back from a year off due to a knee injury.
Fowkes said he thinks the game will be won by the side that has a better mindset.
“It is going to be battle all day,” he said.
“In the end it might come down to who is a bit stronger in the mind rather than stronger in legs.”
The grand final rematch will take place at the Navarre Sports Complex at 2.35pm.
