Authority spokesman Andrew Rose said students developed presentations on the water situation in their towns.
Year nine and 10 students from Edenhope College, Kaniva College, Warracknabeal Secondary College, Horsham’s St Brigid’s College and Horsham’s Holy Trinity Lutheran School attended.
Mr Rose said the conference was about the quality of water throughout the world.
He said the students’ presentations were great.
“Every year they seem to just get better and better,” he said.
“They were passionate about water quality, the environment and all things that relate to livability.”
St Brigid’s College won $1000 for the best school presentation.
The students involved were Kyra Clarke, Annabella Fort, Vanrika Heldt, Madeleine Arnel and Maggie Caris.
Mr Rose said the judges had a hard time picking a winner.
“All the presentations were really good,” he said.
“It was a blanket finish in the end.”
Mr Rose said the conference had been running for 11 years.
“More than 800 Wimmera students would have attended this conference over the years,” he said.
Mr Rose said there was also a video presentation from Tauranga Girls’ College in New Zealand.
“They have presented for the past six years and it is fascinating to talk to them because at the moment they are concerned about a three-week dry spell,” he said.
“They just don’t have the storages like we do.”
Other presentations included Graham Romanes from the charity Well Wishes.
The charity aims to build wells in Ethiopia to provide clean water.
