Laharum Hall is one group to participate with it being its 12th year of registering a Biggest Morning Tea.
Laharum Biggest Morning Tea co-ordinator Liz Hopkins said instead of a traditional morning tea, Laharum Hall would host a lunch starting at 11.30am.
The lunch will include lucky table prizes, raffles and a performance from the Local Vocals choir.
“There’s been a wonderful community effort with many people preparing the food and selling raffle tickets to make the event to happen,” she said.
Wimmera Health Care Group’s communications manager and Wimmera Cancer Centre fundraising sub-committee chairwoman Amelia Crafter will speak at the event, along with Gil Hopkins, who will share his experience with melanoma.
Mrs Hopkins said she was pleased that they’re supporting both the Cancer Council and the community.
Attendees are encouraged to bring items to donate to the ‘Bring and Buy’ stall, which will raise money for the Rachael’s Wish fundraising appeal.
The Biggest Morning Teas in the Wimmera that are open to the public are the Cancer Council Volunteer Group at Horsham’s Hamilton Lamb Hall from 10am; the Stawell Library at 10.30am; and Meritum Financial Group on 24A Darlot Street in Horsham from 10am to 11.30am.
Nuseed and HC Pro in Horsham have also registered a morning tea for staff members.
Horsham Primary School will also have an event on Tuesday, June 13, with both students and staff getting involved.
Groups that have already hosted a Biggest Morning Tea this year include Eventide Homes in Stawell, which raised $155 and Pinnacle Inc, which raised $1040.20 for the Cancer Council.
The Biggest Morning Tea have been running for 23 years throughout May and June.
