The Grampians Bowls Division players will return for the first round of midweek competition after the Christmas break on Monday.

Third-placed Stawell Gold will host Ararat VRI Red in the headline match of round 11.

The red team is eight points off fourth place and will need to starting the new year off with a win to keep its finals hopes alive.

Gold could move into second if results fall its way.

Stawell Blue will go in favourites against Lake Bolac with a win keeping it within reach of the ladder leaders.

while Aradale will face a tough test at home when it faces fourth-placed Stawell Golf Pink.

Ladder leaders Stawell Golf Purple will travel to Ararat to face VRI Green.

Chalambar will host Ararat and will give itself a chance of causing an upset against the sixth-placed visitors.

Players will have to contend with tough conditions with hot weather forecast for the first round of the new year.

Matches will be cancelled if it is deemed a total fire ban day on Monday.
