Future preps visited their 2016 classrooms at schools across the region.
Horsham Primary School principal Chris Walter said it was an exciting day.
“We will have three classes of preps next year, which is almost 60 children,” he said.
“They spent half a day at the school on Tuesday where they got to experience the classroom – they went outside at playtime and got to eat their snack.
“It’s an important part of the day and a great chance for them to get to know what school is like.”
Mr Walter said all grades had a transition day on Tuesday.
“It was an exciting day for everyone – all the students went into their new classrooms and were able to meet their new teacher and classmates,” he said.
Laharum Primary School principal Jane McLean said transition was an ongoing process throughout the year.
“We can’t rely on just one day in December,” she said.
The school will welcome one new prep student next year.
“We are a rural school, so we often only have a few preps and the family is involved in the school so it shouldn’t be a daunting experience,” Mrs McLean said.
She said the day also included new kindergarten children visiting the Laharum Preschool.
“It was a great day,” she said.
