Westonvic Waste has been operating in the Wimmera for 38 years as a family owned business.
Daryl and Roz Hobbs have owned the business for the past 20 years, and currently run a modern fleet of five trucks.
“We service the Wimmera area, supplying commercial front-lift bins and 240 litre wheelie bins,” owner Daryl Hobbs said.
“We also supply skip bins and hook bins for the building industry, for the collection of construction waste. Our skip bins are popular to the householder for clean ups and renovations around their residence, not only for general waste but for cardboard collection as well.”
About three years ago Westonvic Waste formed a sister company for the new recycling plant that has been developed at the depot.
The company is called Greenedge Recycling and it now runs a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) which is used to separate the construction waste. This then is able to recover 80 per cent of that waste stream, leaving less to be taken to landfill. Products that are recycled include cardboard, steel, plastics, timber, concrete and bricks, glass and soil.

Are you doing it right?
The Golden Rules are:
Stay Loose: Recycling goes into the bin loose – never in a plastic bag, and keep other soft plastic out too.
Easy does it: Simple materials like paper, cardboard, glass jars and bottles, metal cans and aerosols, cartons and rigid plastics are easy to recycle and accepted in almost all kerbside collections.
Into the Garbage: Crockery, window and drinkware glass, polystyrene, plastic bags, nappies and food are the big baddies.
Keep It Clean-ish: Recycling does not need to be spotless – just scrape off solid food and give it a quick rinse.
Drop ‘Em Off: Kerbside systems cannot separate items like mobiles, computers, batteries and printer cartridges – find local drop off services.
If in doubt: Leave it out! Putting the wrong thing in the wrong bin can ruin your good recycling efforts.
Buy it Back: Look for recycled products, like Planet Ark Paper and Naturale Toilet Tissue to close the recycle cycle.
