Canberra writer Mark O'Connor writes that he is off to Perth to be awarded a doctorate by the University of Western Australia for translating three Shakespearean plays - Twelfth Night, Henry IV Part 1, and Troilus and Cressida - into contemporary English verse. He writes: "I plan to spend much of the rest of my life translating additional plays by Shakespeare, since I find it very sad that 400 years of change in the English language have left many people unable to enjoy his works in their original versions."
