The scope of the study includes all modes of public transport, including coach services options and the utilisation of existing rail infrastructure.
“As lead agency, we have entered into funding agreements on behalf of the region and have developed a consultant brief together with a steering committee from Ararat, Southern Grampians and Horsham councils, assisted by the transport division of the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources,” Horsham Rural City chief executive Peter Brown said.
“Following the tender process, the steering committee appointed John Hearsch Consulting Pty Ltd to undertake the study.”
“Each local government area has agreed to contribute $4000, which has been matched by Regional Development Victoria.”
There is a total budget of $72,000 to fund the study. The project will take nine months to complete.
