Last time the teams met Saints gave Warriors a touch up and Stawell want to rectify that.
Stawell coach Brad Thomas believes Warriors are capable of winning if they put their best foot forward.
“If we can play harder football for longer then we should be right in the match,” Thomas said.
It will be an important test for the Warriors who continue to hunt for a top three spot.
"It is no doubt an Important test for Stawell," Thomas said.
”It is all well and good to play good football against the bottom sides but we need to stand up now against the top teams.”
Warriors have had some impressive performances of late, but on all three occasion where they have met Saints or Minyip Murtoa they have failed to play their best football.
Stawell’s leaders which include Jackson Dark and Tom Eckel have been prolific, but Stawell need more contributors if they knock off who Thomas believes is the team to beat.
There is currently quite a gap between the top two teams and the rest of the competition and Thomas wants to narrow that gap with a win this weekend.
Warriors will have to pay close attention to inform midfielder Sam Clyne who tore Stawell apart with his run and carry in their previous meeting.
Jacob Cooke Harrison also performed well in their last meeting booting several goals.
Thomas said there would be specific match ups for both players to limit their early influence on the game.
Saints have a tendency to apply a strong press, but it is hoped Warriors confidence can break the game open.
“If our players are confident and taking the game on they should be able to beat their press,” Thomas said.
“We just need to play our own game and take the game on. If we don’t play four quarters they will be all over us again.”
If Warriors are to win the top three spot will be all but secured.
Warriors will join Saints in promoting the White Ribbon round. For that reason they will be in their black shorts.
The game starts from 2.20pm at Coughlin Park.
