Berry’s side was slow to warm up in the first quarter, trailing Metro 3.1 to 2.1 at the first break.
Country managed to pull away in the second half, working hard to achieve an 11.7 (73) to 8.5 (53) win.
“Metro is obviously a strong side, very competitive and the rivalry between the two teams is huge,” Berry said.
“The game could’ve gone either way. It was just a matter of what team found its feet first and united together.
“My performance wasn’t as good as I would’ve liked but I still feel I contributed to the team and played my role.
“Being captain obviously has certain responsibilities and expectations but I enjoyed the challenge and am going to further develop my leadership qualities.”
