Saturday’s round contains three of the most important games for six clubs, a loss will create a final five appearance difficult and the victors will cement further opportunity.
Wickliffe-Lake Bolac (1st) plays reigning premiers Lismore-Derrinallum (4th), Hawkesdale-Macarthur (2nd) meets Penshurst (5th) and Glen Dunkeld (6th) plays Moyston-Willaura (7th).
Wickliffe-Lake Bolac is having a major reunion at Lake Bolac of past premiership players and netballers of each division of the respective sports from 1965 to the present on July 9.
The MDFL board has announced a change in the Lewis Medal presentation. It will be held on Sunday, September 11 as a midday lunch catered and presented by the Tatyoon club at the Lake Bolac Memorial Hall.
The tribunal has been busy in recent weeks, with Ben Jackson (SMW Rovers) not guilty of striking Ben Birch-Burton (Great Western), Justin Coole (Ararat Eagles) not guilty but severely reprimanded for head butting Brad Lockyer (Lismore-Derrinallum) and Brodie Misfud (Woorndoo-Mortlake) two weeks for striking Brent Rogers (Lismore-Derrinallum).
From the reserves, H Wathen (Glen Dunkeld) and Dylon O’Neill (Great Western) both took two weeks for striking with intent each other.
Next weekend the MDFL has scheduled a bye for all football and netball games allowing players and supporters a break from the district’s number one sports.
There must be an event somewhere else having a talking point bigger than football.
