The cooler weather and the fact a dozen or so Chalambar regulars have hightailed it north to Cairns for a taste of the tropics, left only a field of 39 to contest the stableford competition.
With the cream of the crop game fishing on the Barrier Reef, Greg Kerr made short work of the field to take out A grade with 39 points from Phil Roberts 37.
While in the B grade stakes, Bill Coxall took the trophy with 38 points from Phil Hall 34.
Birdies, nearest the pins and eagles’ nests mostly fell the way of Adam Tribe.
Tribe carded a first hole birdie, nearest pins on second and 15th plus he emptied the 75BC eagles nest with consecutive eagles on the third and fourth holes.
Other pin winners were Peter Gemmola (8th hole), John Shaw (16th) and Tim Philip (18th). Phil Roberts, Peter Kerr and Robert Harricks each scored birdies on the 18th hole.
Secret six winner was Richard Taylor. Consolation balls went to Adam Tribe 37, Ken Farrar 35, Tim Philip and Richard Schwab each on 34.
Tim Elgood returned a hot 41 points on Thursday to score the chicken along with with Marty Schoo 37. Clyde Vearing won the Thursday nearest the pin.
This Saturday’s event is the June monthly medal stroke.
