Coach John Goldsmith said it was a tight game.
“It was a bit of an arm wrestle in the beginning,” he said.
“We got a lot of possessions under pressure, which really held us together.”
James Cleaver was awarded the AFL Vic Medal for best on ground.
The under 18s side suffered a disheartening 161-point loss.
Maryborough-Castlemaine demolished the side 29.13 (187) to 4.2 (26).
Coach Jye Smith said Maryborough-Castlemaine was a strong side and his team had struggled to compete.
“Their game plan just stood above ours, they just stuck with it and to their credit they pretty much beat us in every part of the game,” he said.
Bailey McQueen was best on ground.
