THE rugged mountains around Halls Gap present a stunning backdrop for the Grampians Grape Escape, a month long festival of all things food and wine.
Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 marks the end of a cavalcade of events celebrating the tastes of the region.
It is appropriate that a month-long celebration of gastronomical delights ends in an indulgence weekend in beautiful natural surrounds at the Halls Gap Recreation Reserve.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the event and in celebration organisers have put together a jaw-dropping line-up of musical and culinary talent.
Alongside headlining chef Miguel Maestre, you can see demonstrations from top chefs Matt Tribe and Pete Dillon, Nancy Gibson from Scrumlicious, Leigh Clarnette from Montara, Deniz Karaca from Cuvee Chocolate, Matthew Berry from Mount Avoca, Rita Bikins from Red Rock Olives, Jamie Hooper from Jamie's Fine Dressings and more.
“I’m excited to be this year’s headline chef, we’re going to have so much fun in the Grampians: the people, the produce and of course the great wine," Mr Maestre said.
“The region has something for everyone and we want to see everyone come along and experience it for themselves.”

Wine launch
AS part of the Grampians Grape Escape month of celebrations, Laharum’s Mount Stapylton Wines plans to release the 2014 Ivan Shiraz at the Mount Stapylton Wine dinner in Halls Gap at the Comfort Inn Country Plaza on Saturday, April 30.
The Mount Stapylton shiraz wines consistently rank in the top 40 shiraz wines in the largest international competitions in the world and the 2014 Ivan Shiraz is another great vintage. Howard and Samantha Staehr will also be presenting their wines for tasting at the Grampians Grape Escape weekend at the Halls Gap Recreation Reserve on April 30 and May 1.
Howard and Samantha planted 1600 vines on a hectare of land at Laharum, on the western slopes of the Grampians in 2002.
Mount Stapylton Wines produced its first shiraz vintage in 2004. The 2006 vintage won a Gold Medal and was ranked second in the world at the prestigious 2008 AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge.
