When both Howard Dunn's and Sue Blakey's names were raised at a recent meeting there was little discussion as to whether they deserved life membership status.
Dunn has been playing tennis in Stawell for 30 years as well as serving on the committee and on the hierarchy looking after the finances.
Being a very level headed player he is seen as a good partner to help teach some of the young ones coming through and with this he has also indicated his desire to assist and take on a major role with the Junior Hot Shots coaching in future years.
Despite not having his name on the champions board, everyone that has played against him sees him as one.
Blakey has played eight more years than Dunn.
She is a six time championship player winning the ladies doubles on one occasion and the mixed doubles on five occasions.
She has represented the club at Country Week tennis for many years, and continues to enjoy the week long tennis event to this day with a regular core group of friends.
Described as a very consistent player with a level head, perhaps only showing some frustration with her own game but never towards others. She will have a good hard crack at the ball and appears content not to die wondering whilst doing her best for the team
As a number one player at the club for many years now and someone who loves her tennis president Mark Stainsby was honour to present Blakey with Life Membership of the Stawell Tennis Club.
