The past two A grade grand finals have seen the Combine fall at the last hurdle, both times at the hands of Tatyoon.
After finishing on top of the regular season ladder Swifts/Great Western had an easy run to the final, but the last home and away round could see them with some demons haunting them.
When the Combine met Aradale in the final round of the season the Combine were dismal with the bat making just 99 runs.
With little to defend their bowlers worked hard, but to no avail.
This time round they will welcome back bowling spearhead Jamie Bach who returns to the line up following a trip overseas.
Bach was in career best form prior to his break and there was no debate whether or not he should be included in the grand final team.
Jacob Seeary was the unfortunate player to be omitted for the final.
There was still some debate as to whether or not Tom Eckel would make his way back into the line up or whether young gun Jayden McCartney would hold his spot.
Eckel was given one last training run last night to prove himself, but a decision had not been made at the time Stawell Times News went to press.
Swifts/Great Western have had consistent performers on a regular basis and this was proven on Monday night when Garry Ranton took out the GCA bowling average award and Craig Marrow was awarded the batting average award.
Both Ranton and Marrow will be required to put some of their skills on displayin the grand final clash.
Sam Cocks may not have won any awards, but he too is in good form.
Cocks had held the top order in place at times when James Devery found it hard to make runs.
However coming off his best innings for the season Devery may have found the confidence he needs to have a big finals series.
For Aradale form is on their side after they defeated a much younger and inexperience Youth Club last weekend.
Andrew and Riley Wood will open the batting and will be the partnership Swifts/Great Western focus on.
Andrew in particular has been able to get starts in each of his innings against Swifts/Great Western this year and will be hoping he can go on with it and make a decent total when he is given the chance.
Brent Tate has been the strongest of the Aradale bowling attack and will require plenty of support if Aradale are to restrict their run chase.
In the past two years Swifts Great Western have taken on Tatyoon in grand finals and it has stretched over the three days and officials and supporters will be hoping for a similar scenario this weekend.
There was plenty of debate as to where the final should be played, with Alexandra Oval boasting new facilities this year and both Alexandra and Central Park having their grounds in great shape.
The venue has been settled at Central Park.
