The third year apprentice has been to plenty of official trials, but in just his second official race he was able to salute.
Miss Amalia was another to break through for her maiden win after four starts.
Trained by Robbie Griffiths the four year old mare jumped well, but over raced from the get go and was lucky to hold on.
Sitting three wide around the final bend Punch pushed the horse to her limits, but found the result they were after.
Miss Amalia is a well behaved horse at the stables and has showed some promise early in her career.
Punch rode a second Griffiths trained horse in the following race where he placed fourth.
The 20 year old will never forget his first win at the first ever Great Western TAB cup meeting.
