Aaron Dalziel said he was delighted with the demeanour and work ethic of the students, which was reflected by the fact the college achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in VCE this year.
Mr Dalziel said the students had all put in a great deal of effort throughout the year to achieve their desired results.
"The students had an outstanding year," he said.
"They were all well behaved and had a great work ethic. They were just fabulous all year. A great group of kids."
Mr Dalziel said the end result, achieving a 100 per cent pass rate, was an amazing outcome for the college as a whole.
"Our results were certainly a lot better than we had last year and that improvement is a credit to their individual teachers in year 12 and also in their earlier years," he said.
Lauren Knights was awarded Dux of the Stawell Secondary College at the presentation evening on Tuesday.
Lauren achieved an Australian Tertiary Admissions Ranking (ATAR) of 89.85 and now plans to study Engineering at Monash University next year.
Mr Dalziel said Lauren's achievement was a typical example of being rewarded for plenty of hard work.
"All the students I have spoken to said they were able to find a good balance between managing the heavy workload presented to them during their VCE year and also having some fun," he said.
"The students all knew when to knuckle down and work hard, but they were able to enjoy time with friends and that was very important. They all seemed to stick together and help each other out."
The college celebrated a major achievement during the presentation evening, with two students becoming the first ever recipients from the school, of the Victorian Certificate of Education Baccalaureate Certificate.
The certificates were awarded to Titian Linley and Laura McClure.
"Titian and Laura are the first ever recipients of the Baccalaureate Certificate from the Stawell Secondary College and we are delighted," Mr Dalziel said.
"To quality for the certificate, a student must achieve a score of 30 or more for English, they must do a language such as German and also study Mathematics Methods or Specialist Mathematics.
"Both Titian and Laura passed all these subjects with flying colours and I was thrilled for them to receive the Baccalaureate Certificate."
Mr Dalziel said these, along with the many other awards presented on the night, showed the Stawell Secondary College had taken a giant leap forward this year.
"The college and its students has really gone a step further than previous years," Mr Dalziel said.
"There has been a great show of commitment from the students and strong leadership from their teachers, which has resulted in being able to achieve such outstanding results.
"Particularly when you look at Titian Linley and Laura McClure receiving the Baccalaureate Certificate, it is a great achievement and the result of the students going above and beyond. It is a real credit to all at the Stawell Secondary College."
