More than 20 students participated in the winter celebration concert in the college hall.

The concert was a true showcase of the remarkable musical talent that the college students have. There was also Chinese dancing and displays of artwork and three dimensional geography models.

The repertoire on the night was a mix of musical styles, played on a variety of instruments and by a variety of students.

According to principal, Colin Axup, one of the most pleasing aspects of the evening was the students who were performing publically for the first time.

Mr Axup said while the senior students demonstrated all the capabilities of veteran performers, the younger students approached their first public performance with some nervousness.

"However, their performances didn't show any sign of nerves and they entertained the audience," Mr Axup said.

"The students are to be congratulated on their efforts both before and during the concert."

Mr Axup also commended Ms Amanda Hemley, Ms Lauren Lee and Mr David Barnes on the work they do with the students.

"Through their guidance, the students provided many accomplished performances," he said.

"I would also like to thank the many staff who supported the concert by either helping in the conduct of the event or by being members of the audience."

Stawell Secondary College's music department is now striving to raise $2000 for a new set of music stands and is calling on members of the community and businesses to support their cause.

Donations can be made through the Stawell Secondary College.
