Dr Rasheed will be covering all anaesthetist duties until May while his colleague Dr Neil Provis-Vincent takes leave.
Stawell Regional Health chief executive officer Rohan Fitzgerald said the hospital team looked forward to having Dr Rasheed full-time in the interim.
"On average, Stawell Hospital provides more than 1600 general, orthopaedic, ophthalmic (eye) and other surgical services each year to the region's community," Mr Fitzgerald said.
"Addi has job shared anaesthetist duties for six years now and has expressed that he's looking forward to the challenge of practicing anaesthetics full time on a wide range of surgical procedures.
"Unfortunately during this time Dr Rasheed will be unable to offer his GP services to his patients in Stawell.
"However we're sure his patients will understand that his highly rated skills will be appreciated in theatre until Dr Provis-Vincent is back on deck in May."
