Stawell Police constables Nathanial Warren and Carl Burmester recently caught up with Stawell IGA (Independent Grocers Australia) Assistant Manager Damien Smith to say thanks for the donation of pallets of water the day the fire situation escalated.
Staff at IGA were quick to mobilise and provide support on Friday, January 17, working to move a fully laden pallet of water from the storeroom to the police station in Patrick Street.
The bottles of water were distributed to people who evacuated the Grampians and Black Range and sought refuge in Stawell as conditions deteriorated.
