The accident occurred just before 9am when the 61-year-old driver of a white Ford Falcon Sedan veered onto the wrong side of the road and impacted a power pole, lifting it from the ground.
The man who says he lost control of the vehicle after a coughing fit was able to free himself from the vehicle unaided before being taken to Stawell Hospital suffering from minor injuries.
Traffic is being diverted around the area as Powercor works to return power to the more than 200 customers still affected by the outage.
Initially a large proportion of Stawell lost power as a result of the crash. Powercor estimates power will be restored to the remaining customers by 2.30pm.
