Walsh shines on return to Beaufort
After beginning his cricketing journey at Beaufort and spending a decade with Mt Clear, Brandon Walsh’s return to the Bulls this season has been nothing short of influential.
Back in familiar colours, Walsh has not only led from the front as captain, but has guided Beaufort to three victories in the A-Grade competition of the Maryborough and District Cricket Association, quickly stamping his authority on the season.
With the ball, Walsh has been outstanding, claiming 20 wickets at an average of 13.7, placing him equal first in the competition alongside Clunes’ Noah Davies. He has also contributed solidly with the bat, scoring 177 runs at an average of 25.29, underlining his value as a genuine all-rounder.
Walsh said the season had exceeded expectations so far, crediting both form and team balance for the strong start.
“It’s been a reasonably good start, and I think I’ve been a bit lucky with some of my wickets because the guys around me have bowled really well too,” he said.
“This is definitely one of my better seasons in terms of wickets, and it’s been great playing for Beaufort again.”
Beyond the statistics, Walsh said the move back to Beaufort was driven by a desire to reconnect with the club where it all began.
“I live in town, and it’s always been my goal to come back to Beaufort at some point,” he said.
“It’s a really good group of blokes, there’s a strong culture around the club, and I’ve really enjoyed being back.”
