Slade Murdok, 30, was arrested on Wednesday after his 61-year-old mother Wendy Sleeman went missing.

Murdok appeared in court on Thursday and was refused bail on a string of domestic violence-related charges, including kidnapping, assault, stalking and attempted arson.

Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday held a brief hearing on separate charges filed against Murdok last year.

Court records show he was last year allowed to leave a court hearing "at large without bail" on the condition that he reappear for a July hearing,

Murdok was charged with the serious assault of a police officer, physically obstructing a police officer and contravening a police order to supply his full name and address.

Prosecutors alleged he assaulted police on April 14 at a house in Ferny Grove in Brisbane's outer northwest.

He was also accused of damaging a fence at that address and trespassing at a house less than 300 metres away on the same day, but both those charges were later dropped.

Police began looking for Ms Sleeman on Tuesday, shortly after she contacted police to notify them of a disturbance at her Elanora home on the Gold Coast.

The search ended on Thursday afternoon when they recovered her body from a car parked inside a garage at Windsor, in Brisbane's inner north.

Murdok was not required to appear in court in person on Friday and he was charged under his previous name of Jamie Christopher Sleeman.

His solicitor Tam Elabbasi said his client was "in custody on substantive charges" and sought an adjournment of two to three months.

"We believe these matters today are proceeding through the Mental Health Court," Mr Elabbassi said.

Magistrate Colin Strofield asked Mr Elabassi if he wanted to apply for Murdok's bail to continue.

Mr Elabassi said Murdok was already in custody.

The 2022 matter was adjourned until May 26 in Mental Health Court and Murdok is due in court for the abduction charges on February 14.
