At St Patricks Primary in Stawell there will no longer an opportunity for too much mud with a good covering of grass due to an oval upgrade in 2021.
Principal Chris McAloon said he could remember visiting the school as a student himself and being in awe of the facilities.
"I remember how jealous I was of a school oval with proper football goal posts," he said.
"The school I went to we didn't have anywhere near the space that St Patricks had.
OTHER NEWS:
"I remember coming back as a teacher and thinking the same.
"When I was lucky enough to join St Patricks I knew what a great asset the oval was - but as I looked closer I could see it needed some work done."
The oval displayed some big bare patches and sprinklers that didn't quite work.
"Through lots of hard work..we resurfaced and reseeded the oval," Mr McAloon said.
"We've installed a new sprinkler system where the water will come from the school tanks.
"A big thanks needs to go to everyone involved."
