There was zero new cases for the region in the past 24 hours as of midday on Thursday.

Stawell Regional Health have been testing residents in record numbers across this week, while the Grampians Public Health Unit have been and trying to limit the spread of the virus.

A Stawell Regional Health spokesperson said they had completed around 140 tests on Tuesday, with many people getting tested after the listing of several exposure sites.

In a joint statement released by Stawell Regional Health and the Grampians Public Health Unit they urged to Stawell community to take care as the health care services try to manage the spread of COVID in the region.

"The township of Stawell currently has active cases of COVID-19, and not all cases are linked," they said.

"As we move toward living with COVID-19 in our communities, we will see an increase in cases. This is why it is so important for everyone aged 12+ to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

"We ask the community to care for each other during this time.

"We are a small community, and we need to be mindful that those with COVID-19 need support to understand what is required of them, and to recover safely.

"Any one of us could be in their position, as this virus is not selective - it is highly contagious."

The health services said that due to high vaccination rates information about cases and exposures sites in the region will be more targeted.

"In many situations, new local cases will not be announced publicly, and some new exposure sites will not be listed," they said.

"This is because the risk of transmission to the community has been managed by the tremendous work of the contact tracing teams, and those people directly affected.

"The purpose of exposure site listings is to alert the community when they may have been exposed to the virus.

"If an exposure site requires action by the community, it will be listed on the Stawell Regional Health Facebook page and the Victorian exposure site listings."

With anxiety around the spread of COVID in the region, the health services urged residents to follow COVID-safe protocols and use the services they provide.

"Stawell Regional Health, Northern Grampians Shire Council, Victoria Police and Ballarat Health Services' Grampians Public Health Unit are working together to respond to local cases as they occur, and to support anyone with COVID-19," they said.

"We encourage all in our community to remain vigilant to symptoms, and to continue COVIDsafe practices when out in the community, including checking in with QR codes.

"Using QR codes greatly assists our contact tracing team when investigating cases, allowing them to get on top of cases quicker, and slow the spread of the virus sooner.

"Anyone who has been to an exposure site at the dates and times identified should come forward for testing, and anyone with even the mildest of symptoms - regardless of where they have been - should also get tested.
