The Giants took on South Warrnambool Hurricanes in the Victorian FIDA Football League Western Finals Day at North Park on Sunday.
The Giants started off a little slowly with the Hurricanes kicking the first five goals without the Giants being able to score.
In the second quarter it was the coach Russell who was able to get the Giants on the board.
After a strong contest he was able to gather the loose ball and kick a goal.
Evan and Jake were able to score goals in the second quarter as well, to drag the margin back a little bit.
In the third quarter Evan kicked his second goal and the highlight was Phil kicking his first goal.
The Hurricanes though were able to keep regularly scoring, keeping the game just out of reach for the Giants.
In the last quarter Hannah was able to kick two goals including goal of the day where she gathered at the 50 metre line and dodged and weaved her way through Hurricanes defenders to kick her second.
The final score finished Giants 7.1 (43) lost to the Hurricanes 12.6 (78).
It was a great team effort from the Giants who battled hard all day and enjoyed every minute of the game.
The better players on the day were Simon who battled hard down back all day, Jake who was again fearless on the ball and Hannah with her two goals.
Troy who played in a new position in the backline this week and John who kept tackling and battling all day were also in the best.
Thanks to the three Ballarat Bulldogs Football Netball Club players Evan, Ricky and Beau for helping out on Sunday, it is much appreciated.
We will be training Friday in Stawell at 4:30pm and then off to Trentham on Sunday for a game against Kyneton.
