The call comes as the region's football and netball clubs face another week of uncertainty and financial losses, due to the state's five-day lockdown.

Round 11 of the Horsham and District Football Netball League and round 13 of the Wimmera Football Netball League were scheduled for July 17 before sport once again fell victim to the pandemic.

Depending on when the lockdown ends, the HDFNL has a plan in place.

"This current round 11 that we've got is our absolute priority to get done because it is the last game where everybody plays each other once," Mellington said.

"For that to happen and to keep that going we are deleting from the bottom end. So the last time we had a holiday we deleted round 16 off the calendar. We now delete round 15 off the calendar.

"Assuming we can play next week that will be round 11 not round 12."

Mellington added the league was also "trying to maintain the integrity of [its] finals' dates".

"(But) we don't know that the first week of finals we won't have another lockdown," he said.

Similarly the WFNL already has their hands full trying to ensure the fixturing is fair.

There has been no updates in what they plan to do with their schedule but in contrast to the HDFNL the WFNL cancelled their round (seven) which was impacted by the lockdown earlier this year.

Stawell Warriors who sit second on the ladder, missed out on their scheduled bye in that abandoned round.

At this stage the Warriors will have played an extra match on the rest of the competition by the end of the season.

Rupanyup is just one Wimmera-based club that has been inconvenienced by the latest lockdown.

The Panthers had scheduled a goods and services auction which was on the edge of being cancelled before moving online.

The club was also scheduled to play a home game which brings with it significant financial losses.

"A lot of food and stuff obviously ordered for home games, it's inconvenienced everyone but you've gotta feel for small businesses at the moment," club president Rod Weidemann said.

Weidemann just like most people involved in sport is hoping to be back up and playing next weekend.

"Fingers crossed that it's only the five days," he said.

"It's the unknown that's the worst part of it."
