The outcomes are formed using the Economic Development Strategy and Northern Grampians Shire Community Vision.
The Shire Vision tells Council what is most important to our community over the next 20 years, and the eight pillars from this are at the forefront of the Council Plan. The Economic Development Strategy tells Council what we need to focus on to develop one of the most crucial things to any community, our economy, business and livelihoods. The Economic Development Strategy has informed both the strategic directions from and the outcomes of the Council Plan 2021-25.
The Council Plan 2021-25 key areas of focus are:
- Boosting Tourism
- Building more Housing
- Growing Local Businesses
- Advancing Education
- Improving Connectivity
- Protecting the Natural Environment
- Wellness and Welfare
- Being a better Council
Actions identified in the Council Plan have been discussed with the Executive Leadership Team who have agreed that their delivery in the timeframe of 2021-25 is both funded and scheduled. These actions have been entered into the Council Plan 2021-25 as a commitment to the community of Northern Grampians Shire that this work will be undertaken by Council and its staff.
Cr Kevin Erwin moved the motion at the June meeting.
"It's a solid and good plan," he said.
"It's a fairly ambitious plan with a large number of actions in it. If we can complete this plan it will be an exceptional effort."
Mayor Murray Emerson also spoke about the plan at the meeting and said he was pleased with the amount of community feedback on the plan.
