Five Northern Grampians Shire grassroots sports clubs will be hit with a boost to their hip pockets thanks to a Victorian Government grants scheme.

Labor Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford, today announced the successful applicants of the latest round of the Victorian Government's Sporting Club Grants Program.
In the Northern Grampians Shire, the Stawell Football and Netball Club will resupply their football department with a grant of $1,000.
The St Arnaud Hockey Club will also receive a $1,000 grant for new equipment for safety and systems, while the Stawell Gymnastics Club will receive $1,007 to ensure digital record keeping for participants and spectators.

The St Arnaud Gun Club has received a grant of $2,000 to set up My Club My Score, while the St Arnaud Horse and Pony Club will purchase additional safety vests with their $1,827 grant.
Ms Pulford said the grants scheme was important to help grassroots sports clubs grow.
"The Sporting Club Grants Program is giving grassroots sports clubs in our local communities the support they need to grow their ranks and help more people than ever play the sports they love," Ms Pulford said.

The Sporting Club Grants Program is part of the Victorian Government's commitment to make sport more accessible and inclusive, stimulate local economies, build sustainable sport and recreation and volunteer opportunities and increase local participation as coronavirus restrictions are lifted.
The grants provide clubs with up to $1,000 for new uniforms and equipment, up to $5,000 for training coaches, officials and volunteers, up to $5,000 to improve club operational effectiveness and up to $5,000 to help sports get back on their feet after the pandemic.
Since 2014, the Victorian Government has provided more than 5150 sporting club grants totalling more than $7 million to clubs across the state.
