Commonwealth Bank's Stawell branch is remaining open amid a spate of regional and rural closures in Victoria.
Commonwealth Bank branches in Rainbow, Korumburra, and Monbulkhas have all closed in recent months, with more branches in Rochester, Port Fairy, Tatura, and Timboon soon to follow.
About 300 bank branches have closed in Australia since the start of 2020, with the pandemic accelerating the transition to online banking.
Nevertheless, a Commonwealth Bank spokesperson affirmed there were no plans to shut the Stawell branch.
They said Commonwealth Bank is still committed to servicing regional and rural communities.
"Commonwealth Bank is proud to maintain the largest branch network in the country," the spokesperson said.
"We believe our branches in regional and rural towns will continue to play an important role in delivering great service to our customers now and in the future.
"Where we do make the difficult decision to close a branch, our priorities are to maintain service levels for our customers and retain our people in the business.
"We have redeployed more than 95 per cent of staff from branches that have closed, to surrounding branches or to roles serving our customers over the phone and online."
There is no news of additional branches closing in the Ararat or Wimmera regions.
The spokesperson said Commonwealth Bank is constantly assessing where branches are needed.
"We regularly review our branch locations across Australia to help us make informed decisions on where to open new branches, where to renovate or upgrade existing branches, and in some instances where to close branches," they said.
