A full public health response has been launched following a Victorian man testing positive to COVID-19.

The individual is a male in his 30s from Wollert, a suburb north of Melbourne.
Victorian health authorities have listed potential exposure sites in Melbourne's CBD, Epping, and Altona North.
Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said while none of the man's household contacts have returned positive test, the results were not yet definitive.

"There have been no positive cases to arise. But that is not the full incubation period. So it may well be that some of those close contacts test positive," he said.

He entered Victoria on Tuesday, May 4, developed symptoms on Saturday, May 8, was tested on Monday, May 10, and returned a positive test on the morning of Tuesday, May 11.
He is now isolating and his close contacts are being tested.
Further testing has been urgently arranged to confirm the diagnosis, with the Department of Health and Human Services treating the incident as a positive case.

The Department is working with interstate counterparts to determine the likely source of this infection.
Mr Sutton said the state government was not "foreshadowing anything" with regards to further COVID restrictions being implemented.
