The Stawell Warriors Female Football team will return to the field on Sunday as the 2021 season begins in the Western Victoria Female Football League Deakin University under-18 competition.

The Warriors side began training early February and coach Melissa Bibby said the team was ready to go.
"I am looking forward to getting all the girls own to Warrnambool and getting them on the field hopefully just having some fun," she said.
"I think we have been able to teach them some fundamental skills and they have had fun doing it.
"We want the girls to have a go this weekend and enjoy it, be proud of your guernsey, you're playing for Stawell and get out there and enjoy it."

Allissa Peachey loves the game of football and has been desperate to play since for over 18 months.
"This is my first year basically, I was meant to play last year, but we didn't get around to it," she said.
"I have played under-13s and then decided to come up and keep playing with the under-18s.
"Just watching the game on the television made me want to play and I like how you can basically do whatever you want on the field.
"There is a bigger ground compared to other sports so there is so much more space and you also get to use your body more, not like in netball where there is the three-feat obstruction penalty."
"I have enjoyed meeting all the girls this preseason and getting to meet new people.
"I'm really looking forward to getting out there to play and trying to get a win."
In their first match the Warriors are away from home as they travel to Davidson Oval in Warrnambool to take on the Old Collegians at 11am on Sunday.

The competition will have a bye the following weekend, due to ANZAC Day, but on Sunday May 2 the Warriors will have their first home game as they host the Hamilton Kangaroos at Central Park.
While the Warriors should have enough players for a game on Sunday, they are still searching for more who want to give football a go.
"It is all about trying the game out, it doesn't matter if your skills are great or if they're not," Bibby said.
"It is not about being the best or the worst, it is about being part of a team and learning something new and trying something new.
"It is a really different and good environment and one that girls who haven't tried football really enjoy."
