A woman has been rescue by Victoria Police after she spent almost 11 hours trapped in the Grampians on Tuesday evening.

A police spokesperson said a 49-year-old woman had contacted a friend at about 6pm stating she was lost along the Mount Difficult Track towards Mount Difficult.
Emergency services were called when the woman said she was lost and her friend and another camper were unable to locate her.

The spokesperson said the Police Search and Rescue and Police Airwing was needed to rescue the Learmonth woman, with police locating the her at about 4.45am on Wednesday.
"She was transported to hospital with minor injuries and has since been released," the spokesperson said.
Overnight temperatures in Halls Gap were as low as 11.7 degrees at 5am on Wednesday morning, with a 'feels like' temperature as low as 8.7 degrees at 4am.
