Stawell Goldmine narrowly avoided the wooden spoon with a comfortable victory over David O'Jones Mitre 10 in the battle for third.
Stawell Toyota have capped off a memorable season with an utterly dominant display of tennis when it mattered most, barnstorming their way to an incredible 20 sets 177 games to 4 sets 118 games victory over the second placed Carey Covers.
Carey Covers fancied their chances of causing a boil over, however their confidence appeared misplaced, as Stawell Toyota ran rampant all night en-route to the 59-game triumph.
No less than eight Stawell Toyota players saluted in all their matches, with Lewis Readings star shining the brightest, dropping just nine games on his way to taking home the Chris Tilley Memorial trophy for Best Player in the Grand Final.
Blair Hart and Jade Cross led from the front, as they have done all season, and were well supported by the likes of Jonah O'Shannessy, Henry Clough and Tom Monument.
OTHER NEWS:
Carey Covers' Emily Davis played a lone hand in the loss, while Malcolm Raggart tried to inspire his teammates, returning from a lengthy hiatus forced upon by injury, and winning a set in the process.
Unfortunately, no others fired a shot on the biggest stage, and they will be left to lick their wounds for the next six months, as Stawell Toyota bask in their premiership glory.
A podium finish was up for grabs between Stawell Goldmine and David O'Jones Mitre 10, and it would be the former who would reign triumphant and avoid the wooden spoon for 2021.
Andrew Dunn, Ben Martin and the Monaghan siblings, Luke and Elise were all instrumental in the 15 sets 155 games to 9 sets 127 games victory, while David O'Jones' Mitre 10's Jamie Bach, Leon Monaghan and Holly Graveson all toiled away bravely for the wooden spooners.
It will be a long winter of soul searching for both teams, following disappointing 2021 campaigns, but I'm sure all players will return bigger and better next season.
