The Stawell Pioneers are one of just four teams in the SWVFA season, and they made the long trip down to Harris St Reserve in Warrnambool, where they kicked their season off.
It is the first time the Pioneers have entered a women's side as they took a mix of ages, with some players as young as 10 and others aged over 40 into the game.
In the first half, Stawell's combination of Poppy Kingan and Rhianne Guerrero up forward created several scoring opportunities, but the duo could not convert.

Early in the second half, the Warrnambool Ranges were awarded a penalty outside the goalkeepers' box.
The Ranges converted that chance, and they were able to take the lead.
Stawell's defence was strong, with Morgan Difalco and Shari Atchison stifling Ranges' forays forward.
In a textbook transition of play by Indigo Venn, Danikah Harman and Karen Armstrong led to Kingan scoring a much-needed equaliser.
